Airport

The Oaxaca airport is less than 15 minutes from the downtown (Historic Center) of Oaxaca City.

There are daily flights from many national and international hubs, including Mexico City, Cancun, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. The airport also has nonstop flights from Houston, Dallas and Los Angeles. If your city does not have a direct flight, you may fly to one of the mentioned cities and take a connection to Oaxaca.

The flight from Mexico City to Oaxaca is only one hour. Airlines that fly to Oaxaca include; AeroMexico, Volaris, Viva Aerobus, United Airlines and American Airlines.

Airport Transportation

Once you exit the baggage claim area, you will easily be offered all types of ground transportation services, including private taxis, shuttle buses, and car rental services. If you rent a car then you will need to ask for a map or use GPS to get to downtown Oaxaca which is only 15 minutes away and a simple drive.

By car

It’s also very convenient to drive to Oaxaca from the following cities below. Just pop your bike on the rack and come with all your family and friends. From Mexico City, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Veracruz, you can travel directly through the Cuacnopalan-Oaxacan highway

By bus

Another Good option is taking a bus. This kind of transportation in Mexico is safe, inexpensive and convenient. You can take a bus from Mexico City´s main station, the Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Oriente (TAPO), and usually there is no need to reserve your ticket in advance. Bus companies that service the Mexico City to Oaxaca route include Autobuses Unido (AU) and Autobuses de Oriente (ADO) which is the largest bus company in Mexico. It has very good first/luxury class buses, which include: comfy recliner-style seats, plugs to keep your phone & gadgets charged, a restroom onboard, movies, and the overall comfort of the drive itself. There are several buses per day and different routes from many different places , including of course, Mexico City.
